PIKEVILLE — A Floyd County man was arrested for first-degree assault and impersonating a police officer, following a stabbing in Pikeville.

Pikeville 911 received report of a fight in progress at 189 Poplar Street, shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday. Pikeville Police officers arrived at the scene to find Tommy Bray, 21, of Pikeville, injured with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Pikeville Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery for his wounds.

Officers arrested Daniel Gillispie, 21, of Harold, at the scene, without incident. Police say Bray knocked on Bray’s door and said he was with the police in order to get him to answer. Once Bray opened the door, Gillispie allegedly stabbed him several times.

The incident remains under investigation by Pikeville Police. Pikeville Fire/EMS Department also responded to the scene.
