MINNIE — Kentucky State Police is investigating the second armed robbery in the McDowell area in less than a week.
On Thursday, a woman, whose identity has not been released, was returning to her home at Minnie, when she was approached by a man with a weapon, who demanded money. The man then took the victim’s purse and vehicle and fled the scene. The victim was unharmed.
The vehicle was later found, but the perpetrator is still being sought.
Police describe the man as approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a slender build. He was wearing camoflauge and a green ski mask when the incident occurred.

Last Sunday, Hamilton Enterprise, a hardware store, tobacco outlet and video rental store in McDowell, was robbed by man with a gun. That robber was described as standing about 5 feet, 5 inches tall. He was wearing a black or dark blue hooded sweatshirt at the time and left the scene on foot.
That incident remains under investigation by KSP Det. Ryan Hamilton.
