DAVID — Endangerment charges have been filed, after a Floyd County woman, who was arrested last week in connection with an active meth lab, reportedly had her 17-month-old baby in the home at the time.

According to police reports, deputies with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office were attempting to serve a bench warrant for Gary Wesley Butcher, 27, Oct. 3, when they “discovered the subject trying to hide an active meth lab on the front porch” of Butcher’s residence.

The report also states, that when he saw officers approaching, he put the cooking and active meth lab in the living room. Deputies reported that the fumes were “very strong” and that a 17-month-old child found within “was in immediate danger from the fumes.”

Jami Wright, 24, of Prestonsburg, was arrested inside the home and charged with complicity to manufacture methamphetamine and fourth-degree controlled substance endangerment to a child.

Wright reportedly told deputies that she had purchased Sudafed from Wal-Mart and gave it to Butcher for the process of making methamphetamine.

Butcher was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and controlled substance endangerment to a child.

Both were lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
