Prestonsburg posted 10 wins opposed to three losses during the 2010 season prior to finishing as the regional runner-up.
The Blackcats notched regular-season wins over Belfry, Paintsville, Bath County, Pikeville, Sheldon Clark, Matewan (W.Va.), Morgan County and Shelby Valley. Prestonsburg eliminated Knott County Central and Middlesboro from the postseason before falling to Corbin in the Class 2A, Region 4 title game. Host Corbin pulled away to beat the Blackcats 48-14 in the regional championship matchup.
Breathitt County and Pike County Central defeated Prestonsburg during the regular-season.
Prestonsburg is favored in Class 2A, District 8, picked ahead of Leslie County, Shelby Valley and Floyd County rival Betsy Layne.
Veteran head coach John DeRossett and his staff are readying the Blackcats for the upcoming season.
The 2011 schedule will afford Prestonsburg five home games. Prestonsburg will host Lawrence County (Sept. 2), Belfry (Sept. 9), Hazard (Sept. 30), Shelby Valley (Oct. 7) and Leslie County (Oct. 21).
Prestonsburg will open the 2011 season on Friday, Aug. 19 at Perry County Central. In other away games, Prestonsburg will visit Sheldon Clark (Aug. 26), Casey County (Sept. 17), Betsy Layne (Sept. 23) and Pike County Central (Oct. 28).
