At approximately 6 p.m. Sunday, 41-year-old Lavonne Johnson, of Galveston, was swimming with her family at Dewey Lake when she apparently fell from a floatation device and was submerged under water for an extended time.
According to Kentucky State Police, several subjects attempted to help Johnson, but were unsuccessful in locating her in the water. The search went on for two hours until the Floyd County Rescue Squad located her body.
