New Pikeville College men’s and women’s soccer coach Ken DeCook is becoming quite familiar with all of Eastern Kentucky. DeCook has spent time in Floyd County this week signing players for his Pikeville College soccer programs. The new Pikeville College soccer mentor signed a pair of players Thursday afternoon when sisters Meaghan and Morghan Slone inked with the nearby school. In addition to the Slones, Brittany Raquel Ousley also signed to play golf at Pikeville College.
Each of the three Prestonsburg High student-athletes enjoyed success in various sports in high school. Meaghan Slone ranks as one of the top girls’ basketball players in Prestonsburg High history. The five-year basketball starter suffered a season-ending knee injury during her senior hoops campaign. In addition to basketball and soccer, Meaghan Slone also participated in softball.
Piarist School seniors Chris Baker and Matt Doyle signed with the Pikeville College men’s soccer program during a ceremony held late Wednesday morning. More on the Piarist School signing appears inside today’s edition.
Earlier in the year, Jake Moak, another Piarist School senior, signed to play soccer at the University of The Cumberlands.
Just a couple of years old, the Pikeville College soccer programs are relatively still in their infancy. The program will face instate competition as well as squads from surrounding states.
All of the Pikeville College sports teams compete in the Mid-South Conference.
