THEALKA — A motorcycle accident in Johnson County has claimed the life of a Sitka man.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of an accident at Boyd Branch and Route 581 at approximately 8:53 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, officers found Michael D. Osborne unresponsive on his motorcycle. He was already being treated by members of the Paintsville Fire Department for apparent head injuries.
Investigators have determined that Osborne was driving his 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle north on Route 581 when he collided with an earth embankment at the entrance of Boyd Branch and then landed upright in the waterway.
Osborne was transported to Paul B. Hall Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by Johnson County Coroner J.R. Frisby.
The accident is still under investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.
