Awards Banquet honors students, community members and KY lands
The Floyd County Conservation District held its annual awards banquet on Friday evening, March 23, at the Wilkinson-Stumbo Convention Center, Jenny Wiley State Resort Park. Among those honored and recognized for their efforts toward "good stewardship" of Kentucky's lands were Big Sandy Community and Technical College Biology Professor Thomas Vierheller; Mrs. Virginia Artrip, for her contribution to the KACD Auxiliary Scholarship Program; and Mr. Robert Bailey, who was named 2007 Cooperator of the Year.
Ethan Joel Conley, an Allen Central High School senior, was named the recipient of the FCCD's $1,000 scholarship for this year.
Students who were named winners in the District's 2006-2007 school art and writing contests were also recognized, receiving t-shirts, certificates and trophies for their outstanding entries.
