MOREHEAD - First-year head coach Donnie Tyndall sent his Morehead State University Basketball Eagles through their first official practice session Saturday morning in Johnson Arena. The 18-man roster includes two seniors, four juniors, three sophomores and nine freshmen.

"I was pleased with how our team competed the first day of practice," Tyndall said. "We really tried to emphasize defense and rebounding. Those are the staples of our program."

Shaun Williams (6-6, Sr., Irvington, N.J.), a Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference second-team selection and a member of the 2005-06 OVC All-Newcomer Team, heads a group of four returning starters. Other returning starters are Quentin Pryor (6-4, Sr., Eupora, Miss.), Ryan Allen (6-7, Jr., Columbus, Ohio) and Cordaryl Ballard (6-3, So., Westerville, Ohio). Clinton Reisz (6-10, So., Whitesville) also returns.

"I thought our energy level was good for the first day," Tyndall said. "We have to play at a high energy level to compete every night with the teams on our schedule."

Among the newcomers are junior college signees Brandon Callahan (6-0, Jr., Dumas, Ark.), Jamyron Steward (6-3, Jr., Buena Vista, Ga.) and Nikola Stojakovic (6-2, Jr., Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro), along with freshman signees Cecil Brown (5-11, Fr., Grand Rapids, Mich.), Andreas Coleman (6-6, Fr., Danville, Ill.), Vincent Crutcher (6-4, Fr., Louisville), Dan Penick (6-8, Fr., Ludlow) and Maze Stallworth (6-4, Fr., Elizabethtown).
