On May 17 at 9 a.m., a Mock Crisis/Disaster will take place at Prestonsburg High School. The Floyd County School District's Crisis Support Team and community responders are working together to provide a safe learning community for children. This planned event will give emergency management teams and the school an opportunity for response to a planned crisis situation.
The following events will be part of the planned Mock Crisis: Emergency responders and school personnel will be faced with a rolling methamphetamine lab scenario. The "meth" lab will be located in a vehicle that "wrecks" into a school bus in front of Prestonsburg High School. The crash results in a dangerous chemical spill. This is a planned practice drill with no actual accidents or injuries occurring.
The Prestonsburg City Police/Fire Department, Kentucky State Police, Floyd County Health Department, Our Lady of the Way Hospital, McDowell ARH Hospital, Highlands Regional Medical Center and the Floyd County Schools District Support Team are involved in this Mock Crisis/Disaster. While this task is a major undertaking, it will provide participants a time to put emergency plans into action in an organized setting.
Thank you for your support of this Mock Crisis Event.
