FLORENCE - Heading into the North/South 100, a $50,000-to-win Late Model feature race, the Brandon Kinzer Motorsports race team knew the race field would feature some of the nation's top drivers. But the competition didn't get the Brandon Kinzer Motorsports team. A feature race wreck did slow the No. 18 Kinzer Drilling Late Model.
Brandon Kinzer qualified the No. 18 Late Model 33rd out of 92 cars. The experienced race team drew 158 and with that had to watch several car and driver tandems qualify before taking to the track. Kinzer started sixth in his heat race and was running in fifth place, going for fourth place when a car in front of him wrecked and claimed his ride in the process.
Last week, before the race at Florence, the Kinzer team, with Brandon Kinzer behind the wheel, claimed a pair of Top 10 finishes.
Brandon Kinzer Motorsports will travel to Bardstown Saturday for a $5,000-to-win unsanctioned Late Model feature race.
