Born September 9, 1948, in Garth, she was the daughter of the late Elonzo and Mattie Conn Shepherd. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of McDowell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonzo Patton; one brother: Cecil Shepherd; and one sister: Betty Hall.
She is survived by one son: Johnny R. Patton McDowell; brothers and sisters: Bobby Shepherd of Martin, Roy Shepherd of McDowell, Ray Shepherd of Tennessee, Elmer Kilbert of Maine, William Conn of Printer, Helen Vance of Drift, Myrtle Paige of McDowell and Wanda Horton of Paintsville.
Funeral services were held on March 3, 2011, at Nelson Frazier Funeral Home in Martin with Ted Shannon and Slade Stinson officiating.
Burial followed at the Lucy Hall Cemetery at McDowell.
Nelson Frazier Funeral Home were in charge of funeral arrangements.
