Edward S. Stratton, age 95, of Ivel, husband of Cealia Ann Click Stratton, passed away Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 12, 1915, in Ivel, the son of the late John Nelson Stratton and Nannie Travis Stratton. Mr. Stratton was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA.

Survivors include his wife, Cealia; two sons, Larry Edward (Gwen) Stratton and Chester Eugene (Audrey) Stratton, both of Ivel; two brothers, Charlie Allen Stratton, of Dayton, Ohio, Billy E. Stratton, of Ivel; three sisters, Joda “Tiny” Butts, of Ivel, Millie Gibson, of Dayton, Ohio, and Ruth Joann Hall, of Prestonsburg; five grandchildren, John Edward (Mary) Stratton, Birdie (Robbie) Tackett, Vanessa (Devon) Akers, Trina (Chris) Stanley, Kabrina Stratton; and seven great-grandchildren, Kayla Tackett, Sasha (Aaron) Goble, Wesley Akers, Megan Akers, Jarrett Stanley, John William Stratton and Jamison Edward Stanley.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, John “Dime” Stratton, and two sisters, Cora Stratton and Zella Ratliff.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 at 11 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, in Martin, with the Clergymen Chris Stanley and Barry Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, with the Hall Funeral Home caring for those arrangements.
