Virgil Kent Handshoe, 40, of Hueysville, died on January 1, 2011, at Hueysville.

Born August 9, 1970, in Martin, he was the son of Virgil Handshoe, of Hueysville, and the late Edna Bolen Handshoe. He was a disable coal miner. He is survived by his wife, Shelia Crum Handshoe.

Other survivors include daughters: Haley Handshoe, Caitlyn Handshoe, of Wayland, Kaden Handshoe, of Harlan, Kaleah Handshoe, of Harlan, step sons and step daughter: Eric Morgan, of Inez, Gavan Morgan, Inez, Kali Messer, of Dice, brothers and sisters: Curtis Handshoe, Martin E. Handshoe, Bee Handshoe, Attalee David Handshoe, Wilson Wade Handshoe, all of Hueysville, Roy Handshoe, of Leburn, Lola Handshoe, of Indiana, Betty Sue Napier, of Indiana, Pauline Amburgey, of Softshell, and half-sister, Bertha Hall.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Bolen Handshoe, and his brother, Donald Handshoe.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, in Martin, with Bufford Hall and Darrell Short officiating.

Burial was in the Handshoe Cemetery, in Hueysville.
