He was born April 2, 1938, at Martin, the son of the late Woots and Anna Mae Scarberry Shepherd. He was a retired coal miner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Virgie Jane Bray Shepherd; sons: Greg “Google” Shepherd and Tommy Bray, Brothers, Acie Shepherd, Woody Shepherd, Clyde Shepherd, Sister, Barbara Wright.
Survivors include: Sons: Gary (Heather) Shepherd of Cynthiana, Ky. and Jackie Darrel (Ruth Ann) Shepherd of McAndrews, Ky. Daughters, Betty Sue Craft of Barstow, Calif. and Virginia (John) Hamilton of Drift, Ky. Brothers, Jobie Shepherd of Hunter, Ky., Earnest Shepherd of Wabash, Indiana, Hershell Shepherd of Jeffersonville, Ky., Roger Shepherd of Printer, Ky., Steve Shepherd of Hunter, Ky., Michael Shepherd of Drift, Ky. and Larry Shepherd of McDowell, Ky. Sister, Susan Slone of Drift, Ky. 12 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 20, at 1:00 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home with Jobie Shepherd and Don Parker officiating.
Burial will be in the Drift Cemetery, in Drift, under the professional care of Hall Funeral Home of Martin.
Pallbearers: Eric Stewart, Earl Shepherd, Tyler Musik, Tommy Bray, Jr., Ricky Craft, Justin Carr, Estill Johnson, Jr., Donnie Shepherd Jr., and Rod May.
