Two-car accident on Route 321 under investigation

PRESTONSBURG — The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a two-car accident at the intersection of Route 321 and Bays Branch Road that happened Friday morning.The two drivers involved, both female, were transported immediately to nearby Highlands Regional Medical Center. Whether they sustained any injuries is not known at this time. Neither vehicle was carrying any additional passengers.The accident involved a Chevrolet Trailblazer and Buick Lacrosse, and resulted in damage to several nearby road signs.How the accident occurred is still under investigation, according to Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy Landon Hall. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have been factors in the incident.
