Rescue Squad moves into new headquarters

PRESTONSBURG — Though their grand opening is still a month away, the new facility for the Floyd County Emergency and Rescue Squad is up and running.Construction began roughly a year ago, and has seen an outpouring of support from numerous organizations whose work has culminated in a sprawling complex including garages, bathrooms with showers, a museum area, a full service kitchen, common areas, office space, and an emergency operations center where rescue efforts can be coordinated.

 

Man charged with escaping home incarceration

TEABERRY — Authorities say a Floyd County man was not trying to get home when he allegedly escaped last week. Fiscal court to hold no regular meetings before election

By the time the May election rolls around, the Floyd County Fiscal Court will not have held a regular meeting for three months.In March, the court met in special meeting one day before its regular meeting date.
