A Prestonsburg student will go down in the books as the youngest person in the state to ever complete Basic Search and Rescue training.

T.J. Hager, 16, of Prestonsburg, became the youngest person in the state of Kentucky to complete Basic Search and Rescue Training late last year, and will remain the proud holder of that distinction, as rules were put in place after his completion of the course to restrict future participants to be 18 years or older.

Hager was congratulated during annual Floyd County Rescue Squad banquet by Floyd County Judge Executive R.D. “Doc” Marshall and Floyd County Rescue Squad Captain Timothy Cooley.

Hager is the son of James Hager and Celina Bowers Thomas, and is a student at Prestonsburg High School.
