PRESTONSBURG — Two people were arrested for active warrants Wednesday following a police foot chase down a busy street in downtown Prestonsburg.

According to Assistant Chief Brian Hall, he asked a woman and a man in the Kentucky Medical Spa office, located on South Central Avenue, to step outside so he could talk to them about a parking complaint. But Hall said when the woman got to the door, “She took off like a gazelle.”

The woman nearly was struck by a pickup truck as she darted into traffic and raced down the street. Hall pursued her, eventually catching up to her and placing her under arrest.

Patricia Meade, 37, of Prestonsburg, was arrested for resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and fleeing/evading police. Jesse Fannin, 49, of Meally, was arrested under an indictment warrant issued out of Johnson County.

When questioning Meade, Hall asked her why she ran, to which she replied that she was scared. Hall then asked her if she always ran from the police and she said, “When there’s that many of them.” Three officers were at the scene of the arrest.

Both Meade’s and Fannin’s vehicles were towed from the scene. Meade was released from jail Thursday, after making bail.
