PRESTONSBURG — Traffic had to be re-routed along the back streets of Prestonsburg around lunchtime, Monday, after a two-vehicle accident blacked both lanes of North Lake Drive.

Witnesses said the driver of a black Lincoln Town Car traveling west on Friend Street disregarded a red traffic signal when it pulled into the path of an oncoming Silverado pickup truck, traveling north on Lake Drive.

William Crum, the driver of the Silverado, said he had the right of way, but the Town Car pulled into his path.

“All I know is I had a green light, and then that black car was in front of me.”

The driver of the Lincoln Town Car, who was not identified, was transported to a landing zone, from which he was airlifted to an undisclosed hospital. Crum was also treated for injuries.
