Floyd man dead; Pike man charged with murder

DRAFFIN — Police are investigated a shooting death of a Floyd County man that has resulted in a Pike County man being charged with murder.

Kentucky State Police troopers were called to the residence of Everett Paul Norman, following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found the body of Jesse W. Church, 30, of Harold. Church was pronouced dead at the scene by Pike County Deputy Coroner Denver Bailey.

Norman, 39, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder. He is currently being held without bond in the Pike County Detention Center.

KSP Det. Jason Merlo is leading the investigation into the shooting.

I don't think people realize how one persons decision can affect so many lives. Jesse Church was a good man, with two very beautiful children. Two children who will grow up with only memories that the people who love him have to share. May God bless him along his new journey, and my thoughts and prayers go to his children, his mother, sisters, family and friends. You will forever be loved and missed. Til we meet again we'll be missing you and loving you from a far.....
