PRESTONSBURG - A manhunt for an escaped prisoner in Floyd County is over, following a nearly two-day search.

According to Kentucky State Police, Wednesday evening, at approximately 9:34 p.m. Scottie Bradley was taken into custody near Auto Brokers car dealership by Kentucky State Police Troopers John Gabbard, Sgt. David Peppi, and Prestonsburg Police Department Officer Jonathan Pack. Prestonsburg notified KSP earlier that evening that an unidentified male was attempting to stop vehicles along U.S. 23 near Watergap.

On Tuesday, shortly after his preliminary hearing, Scottie R. Bradley, 31, of Blue River, managed to escape custody while being transported from the courthouse back to jail. A number of local residents claimed to have seen Bradley running through downtown Prestonsburg, and his orange prisoner jump suit was allegedly found in the back yard of one resident, who’s home is located near the Big Sandy river.

According to court records, prior to his escape, Bradley, had been present at a preliminary hearing in Floyd District court on charges of first-degree robbery, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, fleeing or evading police on foot, first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and other traffic offenses.

Times staff received several unconfirmed reports of Bradley being spotted along Watergap road throughout the day Wednesday. It’s assumed that Bradley followed the railroad tracks, which run along the far riverbank from Town Branch Road, where he was last seen Tuesday, to Watergap road, where sightings of him were being reported Wednesday.

Bradley was transported to the Floyd County Detention Center and lodged on one count of second-degree escape, a class D felony, which carries a sentence of 1-to-5 years in prison.

oh my, a stand up guy...that whines about everything..maybe they deleted your posts because they are as sick of you as everyone else including me..do you honestly think we the people of floyd county would vote for a whiner?? really stan..action's do speak louder than words and all we ever hear from you are words and silly ones at that....whine, whine, whine..do you want some cheese with that?? you blame the jailor and the sheriff for letting people escape when it was not either of their fault..if you are so experienced then you would know all about this and you seem to know nothing except how to whine and cry with your comments..i've never heard anything positive come from you...come on stan, get a real life and stop trashing others, we are so sick of it and you are really hurting yourself if you plan to run for anything..my advice is for you to run for the county line...haha

Can someone at the Floyd County Times tell me exactly why my comments where deleted from this story? Please tell me this was some kind of techinical error! Did I violate any terms of usage policy?

It's a good thing I saved my original post:

"Mr sk8terforlife

I normally would not reply to a statement such as yours, but in this case I think I will. I know exactly what I'm talking about.

As an experienced correctional officer at both the State and Federal level i can assure you either the Polices and Procedures in place are not sufficient to control this situation or they where not adhered to in a professional manner.

This is the second time in a 12 month period that a dangerous person has been allowed to escape custody putting him, law enoforcment and the public at large in serious danger of bodily harm. I guess the only question left is who is going to step up and take responsiblity for this escape. My guess is we will have those n charge pointing fringers instead of addressing the problem and enacting steps to make sure this does not happen again.

I agree it would be a cheap shot if it was not for the fact that I have been talking about this type of situation every since an escapee showed up at my door one late summer putting my then young family in immediate danger.

Cheap shot? The only cheap shot I see on this page is the one who called me a loser while hiding behind a fake name."

also, i think they should be naked under their jumpsuit...and also, i agree with c.o.'s comment about the shackles and chains..

It was a terrible mistake regardless..One that a set of shackles/cuffs and a belly chain would have avoided..Its standard procedure with every correctional agency Ive ever worked for/with/and seen..Espically with a known escape risk..I dont understand it honestly..

Hopefully they will learn from this mistake..

gosh...i wish stan lee would go away..he wants each and every story to be about him, i guess to him it's free campaigning..lol, he thinks he knows it all but all he knows how to do is play the blame game..i'm sure he'll blame me for something now but i've read comments from him on every story and i'm so sick of him. he has a snowball's chance in hell of winning anything in the next election..hahaha

Mr. Lee I dont't think the residents would have even atacked you if you would have made the later comment the first time. You blammed the jail in the beginning when we read the paper stating escaped from the courthouse. The comment you made It's not enough to say it's the Jailer's fault, it's the Sheriff's fault, it whoever's fault. The whole process needs to be looked at and changes made. Our goal should be to prevent the next escape, not to find a scapegoat. I think that comment was better instead of placing blame like you did in the beginning. And you know what are WE all perfect Mr. Lee? Noone is but like I said the attack u made on the jail in the beginning was wrong. For someone like you the concern should have been the safety of the community and working together to fix the problem instead of blamming.

EXACTLY!! He saw an opportunity to turn something in his favor and take advantage of it without even knowing the facts of the situation.

Lord reading these comments I would think it's election time...it's like the roads getting worked on before election time, that would be crazy, this is the problem instead of worrying about the safety of the people out their and trying to work together to make a plan to catch him, your playing the blame game and trying to score points for this, if you had his job, and this happen would you want others to think you need to be replaced. This is the kind of people that we sure don't need in office let's get some one with class and instead of writing this you would be saying lets work together and catch this thug! John k yes needs to go that would be the first place to start....

To the best of my knowledge, everyone has been able to escape from the COURTHOUSE not the jail, its plain to read under the picture...maybe they need to look a little closer at the bailiff, or whoever it is that brings them over idk...just my opinion....

It is the sheriff, not the jailer who is responsible for the prisoners transportation to and from court. The jailer had no involvement in this.

Floyd County when are we going to put a stop to this? I normally would not say I told ya so, but I have been complaining about Policy and Procedure at the Jail concerning security for way too long now.

I just pray we recapture this person as soon as possible and that no one get seriously injured.

How many more people have to escape here before we find some qualified deputies in Floyd Co. instead of idiots. Who runs than jail btw, a drunkin fool on the take like our Sheriff.

Bailiffs are deputy sheriffs. Everyone knows the sheriff dept (John K) hire cousins or people he owes favors or some other idiots. Very sad for this Co. Clean house in that dept., starting with John K and we would alleviate a whole lot of Floyd Co's problems. Starting with all the escapes.
