DANA - A Floyd County man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of being in possession of child pornography.

Kentucky State Police officials say that detectives from Post executed a search warrant Tuesday at the residence of Dr. Bret A. Dunning.

Dunning, 50, of Dana, who owns and operates a medical clinic next door to a preschool, was arrested and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center this past week on one count of possession of a matter portraying sex performance by a minor.

According to the police report; Dunning was found in possession of several pictures, “that are known to be child exploitation images,” which portrayed sexual acts by children estimated to be 4-years-old. The images were allegedly found on the Dunning’s computer.

Dunning was arraigned before Judge Eric D. Hall on Tuesday and his bail was set at $25,000 cash. After posting bond, Dunning was released under the conditions that he stay 1000 feet from any school, daycare or place where there are under age children; not allowed to possess any computer or electronics device, and strict home confinement.

Dunning, who is a doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, owns and operates Dunning Medical Clinic, which shares a parking lot with the Prestonsburg preschool; Learning Ladder Academy. The conditions of his release prevent Dr. Dunning from utilizing his office.

Dunning’s wife, Maleshea Dunning, also a D.O., has a family practice at Pikeville Medical Center.

Officials with KSP say that the search warrant was obtained following an online investigation conducted by Post 9 detectives. This incident remains under investigation by Post 9 Detective Jason Merlo.

Dunning is next scheduled to appear in court on May 15.
