PIPPA PASSES - The Alice Lloyd College men’s basketball team finished the 2011-12 season near the .500 mark, exiting the campaign 14-15. Alice Lloyd, under the guidance of head coach J.R. Hammond, an alumnus, showed a vast amount of improvement after concluding the 2010-11 season 8-22. For the second straight season, Alice Lloyd compiled a 5-8 record in the KIAC. The Eagles finished in a four-way tie for fourth in their conference.

Alice Lloyd returns its top two scorers from last season. Junior guard Isaac Wilson (15.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg) and senior forward Shawn Thompson (15 ppg) are both back for the Eagles. However, Alice Lloyd lost multiple contributors, including Casey Dalton (10.6 ppg), Brandon Hayes (9.7 ppg) and leading rebounder Brent Hall (6.9 ppg, 8.4 rpg), all of whom started games during the 2010-11 season.

The Eagles also return junior center Terry Muse (6.6 ppg, 8.3 rpg) and sophomore guard Clint Stepp (4.6 ppg), among others. Muse emerged as a productive player for the Eagles last winter.

In addition to pacing Alice Lloyd in scoring, Wilson led the Eagles in assists (4.7) and steals (1.4). The athletic Wilson developed into a backcourt leader for the Eagles last winter.

Muse led Alice Lloyd in blocks, swatting 3.6 shot attempts per game. The Eagles’ bigman provided a strong presence inside throughout the campaign.

Hammond signed a large recruiting class in the offseason. The Eagles are expected to develop into a deep, experienced group.

Alice Lloyd averaged 73.7 points per game last season. The Eagles allowed opponents to score an average of 78.3 points per game in the 2011-12 season, which ended with a loss to Cincinnati Christian in the opening round of the KIAC Tournament.

Alice Lloyd competes in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC). In addition to Alice Lloyd, the KIAC includes Asbury, Berea, Brescia, Cincinnati Christian, IU East, IU Southeast, SLCOP (St. Louis College of Pharmacy) and newcomer Point Park.

Alice Lloyd will play at Morehead State during the 2012-13 season.

The Eagles will tip off the new campaign on Saturday, Nov. 3 in a season-opener versus UC Clermont.
