PRESTONSBURG - Adams Middle School eighth-grader Scott Stapleton finished first in the Jenny Wiley 5K Run held Saturday in Prestonsburg. Stapleton, a 14-year-old, finished the race in 20:36. The athletic Stapleton is headed into another basketball season for the Blackcats.
Krystal Barker was the top female finisher in the Jenny Wiley 5K. Barker, who completed the course in 22:40, finished fourth overall.
The Top-10 in the Jenny Wiley 5K shaped up as follows: 1. Scott Stapleton, 20:36; 2. Jerry Slone, 21:11; 3. Michael Holbrook, 22:07; 4. Krystal Barker, 22:40; 5. Wes Hall, 23:11; 6. Greg Frasure, 23:33; 7. Brian Nelson, 23:33; 8. Jennifer Chaffin, 24:15; 9. Dave Sellards, 24:39; 10. Crystal Frazier, 24:42.
The Jenny Wiley 5K Run, held in memory of Dr. Rondall Leslie, featured 50-plus runners.
In the Jenny Wiley Bike Rally, Justin Kreene finished first.
