MIDDLE CREEK — A Floyd County schools employee was killed in a motorcycle crash over the weekend just outside of Prestonsburg.

According to Kentucky State Police, officers at Pikeville Post 9 were alerted to a single-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle Saturday on Route 114.

Authorities say the preliminary investigation indicates that 33-year-old Christopher Shepherd, of Prestonsburg, was traveling west on Route 114 when he lost control of his motorcycle.

Shepherd was an information technology technician for the school board. He was recently engaged to marry Tiffany Bevins.

According to KSP officials, Shepherd was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson.

This accident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Jonathon Dixon.
