Nancy Pitts, 87, if Sidney, Ind., passed away in Miller’s Merry Manor, in Warsaw, Ind., on Nov. 26, 2012, at 2:30 p.m.
She was born to Willie and Annie (Strickland) Burchet, at Lancer, on Sept. 10, 1925. She was a Sidney resident since 1953. She was united in marriage to Mexico Pitts, in Prestonsburg, Aug. 7, 1944. He preceded her in 2003.
She did not have children of her own, but she raised her husband’s niece and grand-niece. In addition, she “took care” of many of the children in Sidney as they were growing up.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Hazel, Edith, Thelma, Josephine and Edna Mae, and a brother, James Lee.
Visitation hours are scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, in Pierceton, Ind.
