PRESTONSBURG – This year the 2011 Miss East Kentucky Scholarship Pageant will be held in Floyd County, with locals working to organize the event.

Floyd County Chamber of Commerce Director Mandy Stumbo and local Michelle Sode will be co-directing the event and say they are “excited about bringing this opportunity to the mountains.”

Stumbo and Sode have recently announced the dates for the event.

The Miss East Kentucky Scholarship Organization will host pageants on March 5 and March 19 at the Jenny Wiley State Resort Park in Prestonsburg. The pageant will be at the park’s Wilkinson-Stumbo Convention Center.

A preliminary for the Miss Kentucky Scholarship pageant, The Miss East Kentucky Scholarship will precede the current Miss Kentucky’s upcoming pageant event later in the month.

The Miss East Kentucky Scholarship Pageant is open to contestants statewide, and also includes other divisions. Those divisions include Little Miss, Pre-Teen and Outstanding Teen contestants.

The winner of each division will represent the Miss East Kentucky Scholarship Organization at the state level of competition beginning in the summer of 2011. That competition will include pageants for Little Miss Kentucky, Miss Kentucky’s Outstanding Teen and Preteen divisions.

The Miss East Kentucky Scholarship Organization will be awarding scholarships at this year’s pageants. All contestants in the Miss division will be required to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network.
