CAMPTON - Floyd County is home to another dirt track champion. After finishing second last season, Nathan Martin has captured a points title in the 4 Cylinder A class at 191 Speedway.
Martin won nine of 13 points races en route to capturing the title. He also finished second twice.
The Floyd County dirt track driver narrowly missed out on a points title last season. Martin drives the 3N 4 Cylinder.
“Last year we came in second in the points standings, losing by ten points, so this year we were on a mission and we proved it,” Martin commented. “Also, I lost my dad in March of 2011 so this has been a very emotional year. He never missed one of my races. We dedicated this year to him. I can’t thank my car owner Jamie Hamilton enough for letting me drive and putting me in a position to win each weekend. I’d also like to thank my brother Nick, and the crew - Darrin, Ivan and Dylan for all they do to help. Dirt track racing has been in my blood since I was old enough to remember. My dad used to take me to Thunder Ridge Speedway in Prestonsburg and I knew that’s what I wanted to do.”
Sponsors for the 3N 4 Cylinder are East Kentucky Auto World, D’s Grocery, Mckinney’s Septic Service and Lenny Hall, CPA.
Martin continues to compete at 191 Speedway. He is currently attending classes at Morehead State University.
