PIKEVILLE - A Knott County magistrate was indicted by a federal grand jury in late August on two counts of receiving stolen property stemming from a 2004 incident.

According to the indictment, Levi Haskel Ritchie “did possess, conceal, and store” two stolen motor vehicles in November of 2004. The indictment notes the vehicles, a 2002 Kenworth T800b semi-tractor and a New Holland TC40 farm tractor, had crossed state lines after being stolen.

Ritchie was reportedly arrested on the charges last week, according to a report from WKCB radio in Hindman.

Ritchie, of Lotts Creek, is currently serving his second term as magistrate. He faces a maximum term of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if found guilty.

Kyle Edelen with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Kentucky noted that Ritchie is currently scheduled for trial on Nov. 17.
