Kathy Thacker, 62, of Prestonsburg, formerly of Raccoon, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, in Louisville.
She was born Sept. 15, 1950, in Pike County, to the late Otis and Minnie Thacker.
Kathy worked as a case worker for the Carl D. Perkins Rehabilitation Center, as a counselor to handicapped adults, and was of the Freewill Baptist Faith. She was a very independent person who loved helping others.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Thacker and Charles Thacker.
Kathy is survived by two loving sons, Steve (Dwayne) Thacker and Shawn (Joanie) Reynolds, both of Prestonsburg; six grandchildren, Mason Reynolds, Lauryn Reynolds, Alyssa Newsome, Shilah Newsome, Riley Newsome and Colby Reed; a host of nieces and nephews; four brothers, Otis Jr. Thacker, of Ridge Line Road, Greenie Thacker, Roy Thacker, of Raccoon, and Bobby Thacker, of Ridge Line Road; four sisters, Alice Thacker, of Shelbiana, and Shirley Haynie, Brenda Thacker and Patricia Bevins, all of Pikeville.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family will accept friends at the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, Jan. 12, at 4 p.m., with services beginning at 7 p.m., with Mark Justice officiating. Funeral services will be at the chapel at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 13, with Jimmy Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Thacker Family Cemetery, at Upper Pompey, Shelbiana.
