PRESTONSBURG — The Floyd County school system held its annual back-to-school event Aug. 3 at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg. This event allows teachers, faculty and staff to come together, enjoy themselves and get excited for the new school year.

There was music, food and even an award given to the school with the most school spirit. Local organizations were also able to attend to provide promotional items and educational information to the attendees.

Highlands participated by handing out hand sanitizer spray and stress balls. Employees also received information on recently added services, such as After Hours Care and Highlands’ new physician, Dr. Robert Royalty, specializing in orthopaedics and sports medicine.

“Teachers and facility have an extremely important role in children’s lives and our community. We were proud to support them in the year ahead,” said Maxanna Cook, director of marketing and public relations for Highlands Health System.
