BETSY LAYNE - Many young football players had an opportunity to step out onto Betsy Layne High School’s new turf field for the first time on Friday evening as the BLHS football program, under the direction of Coach Jon Parsons, hosted a youth camp. The highly-anticipated camp was held after being postponed due to inclement weather one day earlier. The camp also gave many fans an opportunity to see the new turf field.
“The camp went great,” Parsons confided. “We did reschedule it because of the rain the day before but I was really pleased with the numbers that came out. The instruction the players received was great. We let each player go through different positions. We were already talking about next year and are excited about the future of the Bobcats.”
The Betsy Layne High School football team has started preseason practice. At press time, the Betsy Layne Elementary School football squad was also poised to begin practice for the 2012 season.
