BETSY LAYNE - Betsy Layne, ranked second in the KVCA (Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association) Preseason 15th Region Top 5 Poll, defeated Magoffin County 3-0 on Tuesday night in a season-opener. The Ladycats remained in the win column one night later, defeating Perry County Central 3-0 to improve to 2-0.
Betsy Layne was back on the court Thursday evening, visiting 15th Region rival Pike County Central. The Betsy Layne-Pike County Central match ended too late to make this edition.

Betsy Layne 3, Magoffin County 0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-17): Betsy Layne dominated in its season-opener on Tuesday night, toppling Magoffin County 3-0. The Ladycats won the three sets convincingly, 25-10, 25-14, 25-17.
Emily Kidd, Alex Hunter, Paige Watkins, Allie Meade, Katie Williams, Cecelia Ray and Kourtney Watkins all contributed for the Ladycats.
Meade had 10 kills and 16 service aces for Betsy Layne in the win.
Ray registered 18 service aces while Hunter added 11 for the Ladycats.
The productive Ray led Betsy Layne in both service aces and assists. Ray recorded 13 assists for the Ladycats.
Betsy Layne 3, Perry County Central 0 (25-14, 25-8, 25-8): The 15th Region runner-up in 2011, Betsy Layne improved to 2-0 on Wednesday night following an impressive 3-0 victory over visiting Perry County Central.
Cecelia Ray delivered 26 service aces and Kourtney Watkins added 13 for the Ladycats.
Ray also registered 15 assists in the victory.
Allie Meade added a team-high 10 kills for the Ladycats, Paige Watkins and Ray finished with six and five kills, respectively.
