PRESTONSBURG - Prestonsburg junior receiver Grant Anderson achieved a milestone last week during Prestonsburg’s convincing 56-7 win over Shelby Valley. Anderson, who also excels in baseball and basketball, went over 1,000 yards receiving. Through eight games, Anderson has reeled in a team-high 49 catches for 1,023 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Anderson hauled in eight receptions for 180 yards and three touchdowns in Prestonsburg’s win over Shelby Valley.

Over the summer, Anderson thrived on the baseball diamond. The versatile Anderson is also headed into his junior campaign with the Prestonsburg boys’ basketball team.

Senior Bryson Williams isn’t too far behind Anderson in the receiving column. Williams has hauled in 31 receptions for 805 yards and a team-high 11 touchdowns. Earlier in the season, Williams set a new state record for receiving yardage in a game.

And how about the quarterback throwing passes to Anderson, Williams and several other Blackcats? Prestonsburg sophomore quarterback Jarredd Jarrell is on pace to pass for over 3,000 yards in the regular-season. Jarrell has completed 121-of-197 passes for 2,501 yards and 25 touchdowns with only six interceptions. The Prestonsburg quarterback has also rushed for a team-high 470 yards and 12 touchdowns via 103 carries.

Freshman Dalton Frasure ranks as Prestonsburg’s second-leading rusher. Frasure has rushed for 341 yards and five touchdowns through 49 attempts.

Prestonsburg offensive players will have to wait another week to add to their totals. The Blackcats are off this week. Prestonsburg will visit Leslie County next week before hosting Pike County Central for a regular-season finale.
