GERMAN BRIDGE - The 13th Annual Youth Hunt Squirrel Hunt Campout will be held Aug. 17-18 at German Bridge Campground. This year’s event is being held in memory of Roger Nelson (Nelson Funeral Home) and Stoney Burke (Dewey Lake Corp of Engineers).
The youth hunt/campout is for youth ages 4-15. Each youth must be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian. All campers must bring their own hunting, fishing and camping equipment. Age groups will be 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and 13-15.
Disabled youth hunters will also be accommodated.
Youth hunters ages 12 and older must have a hunting license and a hunter education orange card. All federal, state and WMA game regulations will apply.
Each youth will recieve a gift and a hat. Participants ages 7-15 will also have a chance to win a shotgun.
Door prizes will be given away to all ages groups. The youth hunt/campout will also include a BB gun shoot, canoeing and a turkey calling contest.
Preregistration is required as spaces are limited.
No pets will be allowed at the youth hunt/campout.
The event is being sponsored by the Floyd County Hunter Education Organization, Dewey Lake Fish and Game Club, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Kentucky Hunter Education Association and the Salato Museum. Donations for the youth event are also still being accepted.

Hunter Education Class: The Floyd County Hunter Education Organization will hold a hunter education class Aug. 6-8 at Dewey Lake Fish and Game Club.
