MOREHEAD – Morehead State University football seniors Michael Jackson, Joshua Brunner and Brandon Bornhauser and junior Alex Hey have been named Preseason All-Americans by USA College Football. Bornhauser was named second-team, while Jackson and Brunner were listed on the third-team. Hey is an honorable mention choice.
Bornhauser, slot receiver and return specialist from Cincinnati, averaged 26.7 yards on 22 kick returns and 7.8 yards on 14 punt returns in 2013. He had 37 carries for 163 yards and seven touchdowns, plus 16 catches for 138 yards and two scores.
Jackson, a defensive back from Cincinnati, ranked third on the team with 72 tackles, including 45 solos. He also registered four tackles for loss, seven pass break-ups and three interceptions.
Brunner, an offensive lineman from Pittsburgh, and Hey, an offensive lineman from Bryan, Ohio, blocked for a unit that averaged 240 passing yards and 369 total yards. Morehead State allowed just 1.6 sacks per game, which ranked third in the Pioneer Football League.
All four student-athletes were named to the official Honorable Mention All-PFL list last year. Bruner was also tabbed Second-Team All-PFL by College Sports Madness, while Jackson and Bornhauser were named third-team by the same media organization.
The USA College Football All-Americans are selected by members of media organizations (Metropolitan New York Football Writers Association, New England Football Writers Association, Philadelphia Football Writers and the Football Writers of America Association, Lindy’s Sports Annuals, Athlon Sports, Phil Steele’s, The Sports Network and USA Football News).
