PRESTONSBURG - Prestonsburg junior running back/tight end Dalton Frasure has been named the 2014 Preseason Class 2A, District 8 Player of the Year. Frasure, who has emerged as one of the state’s top high school football players, occupies the top player spot in The Cats’ Pause 2014 Kentucky Football Yearbook’s Class 2A, District 8 Preview.


As a sophomore, Frasure scored 26 touchdowns for the Blackcats.


Frasure rushed 209 times for a team-high 1,240 yards and 22 touchdowns during his sophomore campaign. The versatile Frasure also hauled in 48 receptions for 537 yards and four touchdowns.


Frasure led Prestonsburg in rushing for a second straight year.


After turning around its season and finishing runner-up in Class 2A, Region 4, Prestonsburg regained the label of one of the state’s top Class 2A teams. The Blackcats will enter the 2014 season as one of the top contenders for the Class 2A state championship.


Prestonsburg will kick off the 2014 season at Pikeville on Aug. 22. The Blackcats’ remaining schedule will be made up of games versus familiar foes Sheldon Clark, Clay County, Powell County, Pike County Central, Betsy Layne, Hazard, Shelby Valley, Leslie County and Lawrence County.
