MOREHEAD - Former Morehead State University standouts Chad Posthumus and Demonte Harper have landed spots on NBA Summer League rosters. Posthumus, who was an Eagle from 2012-14, will play for Chicago. Harper, who wore an MSU uniform from 2007-11, will play for Denver.

The NBA’s Summer League features 24 teams competing in a 67-game schedule from July 11-21 at the COX Pavilion and Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the UNLV. NBA TV will televise every contest in some form or fashion, with 38 of those being live.

“Congratulations to Chad and Demonte on this opportunity,” MSU Coach Sean Woods said. “We want young men in our program who are serious about getting a college education and have aspirations to play at the next level. That’s the case with these two.”

Posthumus, a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, recorded 574 points, 595 rebounds and 55 blocked shots in two seasons with the Eagles. As a senior in 2013-14, the 6-foot-11 center averaged 9.6 points and 10.9 rebounds while shooting 51 percent from the floor.

In 2013-14, Posthumus ranked second nationally with 4.3 offensive rebounds per game and fourth with 10.9 total boards per contest. He posted 10 double-doubles, 17 double-figure scoring efforts and 20 double-figure rebounding performances during his final campaign.

Posthumus earned All-Ohio Valley Conference honors from College Sports Madness after the 2013-14 season. He was also recognized by several Canadian media outlets throughout the campaign.

“I didn’t have the pleasure of coaching Demonte, but obviously coached Chad the past two seasons,” Woods said. “Chad came to us pretty raw, but has worked really hard to put himself in this position. He has a pro body, with great size, and has grown a lot the past two years.”

Harper, who hails from Nashville, Tenn., registered 1,436 points, 487 rebounds and 400 assists in four campaigns with the Eagles. As a senior in 2010-11, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 boards, 3.4 helpers and 1.5 steals while drilling 56 three-point field goals.

In 2009 and 2011, Harper helped Morehead State to OVC Tournament championships and NCAA Tournament berths. He knocked down the game-winning three in MSU’s 2011 upset of fourth-seeded Louisville, which many consider the biggest victory in school history.

Harper, who played alongside current Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried for four years, earned First-Team All-OVC honors after his final collegiate season.

Harper has played professionally for KK Cibona in Croatia and BC Tsmoki-Minsk in Belarus. During the 2012-13 season, he averaged 9.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in 50 games for the NBA Development League’s Erie Bayhawks. This is his second summer stint with the Nuggets.
