BETSY LAYNE - Betsy Layne High School senior Houston Hall made his college choice official on Thursday, May 22, signing with nearby University of Pikeville. Hall is pictured with Betsy Layne Coach Bryan Dixon and his father, Barry Hall.


Houston Hall helped to lead the Betsy Layne baseball program throughout his career. He excelled as a pitcher and an outfielder during his senior season.


UPIKE closed out the 2014 season with a 21-30 overall record and a 6-20 mark in the Mid-South Conference. While the 21 wins are the most for the Bears since 2001, UPIKE finished one spot outside of the field for the MSC Baseball Tournament. Pikeville competes with Georgetown, Cumberland (Tenn.), St. Catharine, Campbellsville, Shawnee State, Bluefield, Lindsey Wilson, Cumberlands (Ky.) and Rio Grande in the highly-competitive Mid-South Conference.
