COLUMBIA - Three Mid-South Conference teams are ranked in the NAIA Men’s Tennis Coaches’ Postseason Top 25 Poll, NAIA officials announced on Wednesday.
Lindsey Wilson and Cumberland (Tenn.) each held their position from the final regular season poll after reaching the national tournament quarterfinals while Pikeville climbed one spot.
Lindsey Wilson (17-3) remained at No. 5 with 272 voting points after beating No. 12-ranked Northwestern Ohio in the national tournament second round before falling to No. 4 Vanguard (Calif.) 5-4 in the quarterfinals.
Cumberland (15-6) stayed at No. 6 with 261 voting points. The Bulldogs beat No. 11 Concordia (Calif.) in the second round before losing to eventual national champions Georgia Gwinnett 5-2 in the quarterfinals.
Pikeville (15-7) moved up to No. 20 with 113 voting points from the national raters.
Campbellsville is one of 10 teams just outside the top 25 poll but still receiving voting points. The Tigers (15-10) received 43 voting points.
Georgia Gwinnett is atop the poll with 312 voting points and all 12 first-place votes. Embry-Riddle (Fla.) is No. 2 with 302 voting points followed by Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) at No. 3 with 291 voting points.
A panel of coaches representing the conferences, unaffiliated groups and the independents serve at the national raters.
