PIKEVILLE – After tallying the second most first-place finishes in the Mid-South Conference, the University of Pikeville took sixth place in the league’s President’s Cup standings, conference officials announced on Wednesday.
Paced by MSC Regular-Season titles in men’s basketball, men’s bowling, women’s bowling and cheerleading, the Bears scored 81.5 points in the final standings.
Lindsey Wilson took first place with 111 points, followed by Cumberlands (Ly.) with 105, Campbellsville (Ky.) with 98.5, Georgetown scoring 95 and Cumberland (Tenn.) posting 87 points.
Points are awarded based on the final regular-season standings for each conference-sanctioned sport. The regular-season champion in each sport receives 10 points with second place receiving nine, etc. At the conclusion of the academic year, the top six male and top six female team finishes for each institution generates the its final totals.
UPIKE has finished sixth in the President’s Cup standings the past two seasons. They are the best marks since the Bears finished 5th of 10 following the 2002-03 season.
