BUCKLEYS CREEK - Allen Central outscored Sheldon Clark 2-1 in an extra inning to win late last week. The Chad Hall-coached Rebels outlasted Sheldon Clark 7-6 in the Pike County Central Invitational on Friday night.
Allen Central pitcher Dustin Johnson worked 6.2 innings from the mound for the Rebels. Johnson recorded six strikeouts and earned the win.
Pitching out of a relief role, Junior Handshoe also threw for the Rebels.
Tanner Lafferty worked four innings for Sheldon Clark in the loss.
Johnson and Lafferty each had six strikeouts.
After back-to-back scoreless innings, Allen Central outscored Sheldon Clark 2-1 in the third inning.
The Rebels only had to play from behind once and that was in the eighth inning.
Allen Central and Sheldon Clark were tied 5-5 at the conclusion of the seventh inning.
At the plate for Allen Central, Tanner Hamilton delivered a game-high three hits.
Trey Aldrich added two hits and two RBIs for the Rebels in the win.
Also contributing offensively for the Rebels, Wyatt Crisp added two hits of his own.
Another Allen Central batter, Kane Taylor, accounted for two RBIs.
Cody Cooper led the Sheldon Clark offensive effort with two RBIs.
Allen Central overcame four errors to claim the victory.
Sheldon Clark committed three errors in the setback.
With the win, 58th District frontrunner Allen Central improved to 22-9 overall. The Rebels completed regular-season district play with a perfect 4-0 record.
Following the loss, Sheldon Clark fell to 11-12.
Allen Central entered the final week of the regular-season with a home game remaining versus Belfry.
