COLUMBIA - While there was movement in the latest NAIA Men’s Tennis Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, three Mid-South Conference teams remained ranked in the poll NAIA officials announced on Tuesday.
After capturing the MSC Tournament title on Saturday, Lindsey Wilson moved up two spots to No. 5 in the poll. The Blue Raiders (16-2) received 294 voting points to surge to their top ranking of the season.
Cumberland (Tenn.) - which fell in the conference finals - remains at No. 6 for a second straight week. The Bulldogs (14-5) share the ranking with Westmont (Calif.) as each received 282 voting points.
Pikeville slipped one to No. 22 after a 2-1 week, including falling to Lindsey Wilson in the tournament semifinals last week. The Bears (15-7) received 122 voting points from the national raters and remain one of the country’s top NAIA men’s tennis programs.
Campbellsville and Cumberlands each sit just outside the top 25 poll but are receiving voting points. Campbellsville (14-8) received 52 voting points while Cumberlands (10-6) picked up 26 voting points.
Embry-Riddle (Fla.) remains atop the national poll with 340 voting points and 10 of the 13 first-place votes. Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) is No. 2 with 331 voting points and one first-place vote followed by No. 3 Georgia Gwinnett with 325 voting points and the final two first-place votes.
A panel of coaches representing the conferences, unaffiliated groups and the independents serve at the national raters.
The next national poll is scheduled to be announced on Monday.
