RENO, Nev. – Awards night went well for the University of Pikeville women’s bowling team as KT Simpson was named the xBowling ITC Most Valuable Player and Brianna Larson joined Simpson on the five-member ITC All-Tournament Team.

Awards were voted on by the women’s bowling head coaches at the national championship.

Simpson is the first Bear to be named the most valuable player since Ashley Galante received the honor in 2008. Simpson was also named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Bowling Coaches Association.

Larson and Simpson bowled brilliantly all week during the ITC’s, helping the Bears finish as the national runner-up for the second straight season. They led fifth-seeded UPIKE through an impressive tournament run, tallying wins against No. 9-seed Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 1-seed Wichita State (Kan.) and two wins against No. 5-seed Grand View (Iowa.).

The University of Pikeville is home to one of the nation’s top women’s college bowling programs.
