PRESTONSBURG - Youth flag football is returning to Floyd County this spring. Prestonsburg High School head coach John DeRossett has announced plans for a spring youth flag football league to be held in May.

“In the next few days we will be sending out information about our Spring k-4 flag league,” DeRossett said. “The league will be free and all players will receive a jersey, a football and instruction from our players. This is a good way to get our players involved with our youth programs as volunteers. Our team is very good about volunteering in the community and I think the flag league will be a lot of fun for those who participate.”

The Blackcats continue to work hard in the offseason. Prestonsburg finished runner-up in Class 2A, Region 4 in 2013.

“Right now, our focus is the 2014 season and conducting 10 days of spring practice and seeing what we have accomplished over the winter,” DeRossett said. “We are looking forward to practice and getting a bunch of work done this summer to prepare us for season.”
