BUCKLEYS CREEK - After suffering a shutout loss to Paintsville in the 15th Region All “A” Classic, Allen Central returned to the win column on Monday, defeating host Pike County Central 13-7.
Austin Lawson worked four innings for the Rebels. He and Dalton Lawson, who pitched three innings, racked up three strikeouts apiece as Allen Central won the high school baseball game convincingly.
Former 15th Region champion Allen Central, getting going offensively again, surged at the plate. In its latest outing, Allen Central scored 13 runs on 16 hits.
At the plate, Tanner Hamilton and Junior Handshoe led Allen Central with two hits apiece.
The productive Hamilton recorded a game-high three RBIs for the Rebels.
Trey Aldrich added two RBIs for Allen Central in the win.
Pike County Central packed a 3-1 lead out of the opening inning but couldn’t keep up with hard-charging Allen Central. The Rebels scored six runs in the second inning and never trailed again.
Allen Central led 13-6 at the conclusion of the fourth inning.
Pike County Central plated seven runs on eight hits in the short effort.
Aaron Scott delivered two hits and Andrew Fields recorded two RBIs for the Hawks.
Each team committed three errors.
Allen Central completed a regular-season sweep. When the two 15th Region rivals met on April 2, Allen Central blanked Pike County Central 4-0.
