BETSY LAYNE - Betsy Layne High School senior volleyball player Cecelia Ray made her college choice official when she signed with nearby University of Pikeville on Thursday.


During her senior season, Ray helped to lead Betsy Layne to a 29-7 overall record. The Ladycats finished runner-up in the 58th District and made an appearance in the 15th Region Tournament in 2013.


During her senior season, Ray ranked as one of the state’s top high school volleyball players.


Pikeville competes in the Mid-South Conference (MSC). The Bears finished the 2013 season with a 14-21 overall record and a 3-15 mark in the Mid-South Conference. The Bears did not qualify for the eight-team MSC Tournament after finishing ninth in the league standings.
