BRISTOL, Tenn. - In a race where tempers reigned and the fireworks continued well after the checkered flag waved, it was the No. 5 team celebrating in Bristol’s victory lane. Now, Kahne is set to defend his title at Bristol Motor Speedway.

A strong showing by Kasey Kahne earned the Hendrick Motorsports driver his first Cup win at BMS in the 2013 Food City 500. But it was the clash between former teammates Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano that stole the show.

With around 150 laps to go, Hamlin and Logano touched in a typical Bristol fender rub that sent Logano into the wall.

Logano, who was battling for the lead before the incident, fought back to finish 10th - Hamlin’s day ended in 23rd - but the fighting was not over.

The post-race cool-down lap was not enough to cool-down Logano who confronted Hamlin while the latter still was seated in his machine.

“We’ve got a freaking genius behind the wheel of the 11,” Logano said. “Probably the worst teammate I ever had, so I learned that now. He chose to run into the back of me. Whatever. I have a scorecard and I’m not putting up with that.”

Hamlin, no surprise, saw it differently.

“You’ve really got to control your car, and he slipped up into me,” Hamlin said. “Really, he would have been in the garage with no radiator in it if I had not checked up twice. I just, you know, I meant to run in to him. I didn’t mean to spin him out, but his day was fine.”

Bristol Motor Speedway will host the Food City 500 on Sunday.
