PIPPA PASSES - Alice Lloyd College sophomore guard/forward Tyler Rogers has been named to the All-KIAC Team.
Rogers has been a force inside for the Alice Lloyd College men’s basketball team throughout the 2013-14 season, averaging nearly 14 points per game. He ranks first in NAIA Division II in blocks per game with 3.6 average and total blocks with 91. The Lexington native’s superior play in the post helped lead Alice Lloyd into the KIAC Men’s Final Four for the first time in 16 years. ALC entered the postseason as the conference tournament’s No. 6 seed.
“This is such an honor,” said Rogers. “I’m proud to represent my school.”
Asbury University forward CJ Penny has been named the conference player of the year.
Indiana University head coach Wiley Brown has been tabbed as the conference coach of the year.
Penny led Asbury to a 17-11 overall record and a 10-8 conference record. The Eagles entered the KIAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed. Penny was ninth in the conference in points per game (15.89), second in field goal percentage (55.7), first in rebounds per game (10.04) and fourth in steals (1.75). He also ranked seventh in the NAIA in rebounds per game (10.04). Penny was named the KIAC Player of the Week twice during the 2013-14 season.
Brown guided the Grenadiers to a 24-3 overall record and 17-0 conference record. IU Southeast is ranked No. 2 in the latest NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. IU Southeast entered the KIAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed.
Berea College junior guard Daishon Robinson was named the KIAC Newcomer of the Year after transferring to Berea for the 2013-14 season. Robinson was named to the all-conference team. He ranked sixth in the conference in points per game (18.17), third in steals (1.97) and second in assists (4.90). He ranked in the top 25 nationally in total steals (57) and total assists (142). Robinson was named the KIAC Player of the Week once during the 2013-14 season.
